ENNIS INDOOR SPRING LEAGUE 2010

Sunday 25TH April brought the Ennis Indoor Spring League to an exciting closure where approximately 80 pony and horse riders competed in the finals.

A showery start soon cleared to a bright sunny day and dozens of spectators attended to cheer the young riders on. The first class the sportsman class was won by Michael Currane.

This class was followed by the 128 under 10 riders. James Quin and Peter O Brien challenged the young riders with a varied and colorful course. The leading pony Boolagh Little Dixie ridden by Ciaran Costello took home the winning rosette in the u10 class .

Over 11 Riders took part in the 128 70 ‘s with 5 jumping off against the clock causing great excitement for these young novice riders . Only three combinations managed triple clears, Linda Gallaghers ‘Oiche Dubh’ took the first  prize closely pursued by ‘Banner Bebo’,  and ‘Marshmallow’ . Shy Strike Again owned by a local lady Helen O Conor stole the show during the 128- 80s  league and again did the job beautifully on Sunday.

Kieran O’ Brien from Ruan got  his season off to a promising start winning the 128 – 90 class. The 138 80 and 90 Classes were strongly represented . Only two combinations made it to the jump off. Knockbawn Lady took first , and a very exciting finish for her first season jumping Chloe Normoyle on Crossderry Spirit took second plase in the 138 80  class.

Patricia Clancy’s season is looking very favorable after her two wins on Sunday . Niall McGrath going last against the clock took the red on Bamboo Josh in the 138-90 class following a very exciting jump off and Alan O  Brien was a close second.

The 148 Leading rider title went to Christopher Slattery who was riding  Caherconree Diamond Bell.
