Ballylawn show deemed a hugh Success!

On Monday last the 4th of May Ballylawn Stud Kill Co. Waterford played host to the first outdoor Waterford Tipperary show of 2015 in the form of Ballylawn show, with over 320 entries on the day spread over three arenas with classes for all grades, The opening leg of the FBD 1.20m Speed series went the way of Co Waterford man and previous winner of the Hickstead Derby, Paul Beecher riding Tim Beecher’s, Loughnatousa Zidane who beat off a field of over 50 to go clear in a time of 29.95 and take the victory. Next class in the main area was the opening leg of the Munster Grand Prix which went the way of the host on the day Francis Connors on board Hilda Anthonys, Uskerty Diamond Lady. Marion Hughes took running up spot with Paul Beecher taking the remaining place on the podium in third position, Darragh Ryan took the leading Young rider position on the day riding Dominique Hallinan’s Furistos Jack. Helen Connors took top spot in the amateur class with cork man Daniel Joyce taking Pole position in the 1.10 class. The other two areas played host to some very good jumping action with the novice horses starting off the action in arena two and the newcomers over in area three getting the day underway and played host to some very good competition in the pony classes.

Next show in the Waterford Tipperary Region is Aglish Charity Gymkhana, which takes place on Sunday the 17th of May, They host a Munster Grand Prix, 1,20 speed series, speed Derby and all the normal horse and pony classes for all grades big and small! Donkey Derby which promises to be a great spectacle with some local celebs on hand to show us how it's done! A massive dog show starting at 2pm, with the dog agility racing which is always a great event, so it really does promise to be a great day out! Enquiries to Mairead on 086 8829821
